In October, Southern States Machinery, Inc. held its annual charity golf event: ‘Tee it up Fore Fabricators’ with a total of 70 golfers playing a full round of 18 holes. The fundraising event raised a total of $24,000 to support future fabricators of Mitchell Community College’s Manufacturing and Industrial programs through the Southern States Machinery Manufacturing Scholarship. At this time, this scholarship will support Mitchell’s Welding Technology students.
“We look forward to being part of the solution for our industry,” said Madelyn Woodley, Events Coordinator of the ‘Tee it up’ event.
Participating in the event, Mitchell’s President, Dr. Tim Brewer, and Vice President for Student Services, Dr. JJ McEachern, showed their support of Southern States Machinery, Inc. and their mission to support the industry.
“Our programs at Mitchell Community College are anchored in workforce development,” said Dr. Brewer as he thanked Southern States Machinery and the event’s organizers, participants, and sponsors. “Manufacturing and industrial are some of the college’s fastest growing programs, and the money raised will go towards scholarships to support students interested in those career choices.”
