Money Smart Simulation 2025

Mitchell hosts Money Smart Reality Fair

On March 13, Mitchell Community College hosted a Money Smart Financial Reality Fair at its Continuing Education campus.

This free, interactive event aimed to boost participants’ financial confidence and teach them how to make smart money choices through a simulated, engaging experience.

Participants received a career profile, complete with an anticipated monthly salary, and used this information to navigate real-life financial decisions, covering essentials like housing, transportation, credit cards, and even pets.

During the simulation, participants made decisions based on various life events and reflected on how these choices would impact their overall financial situation. This reality fair provided a safe and eye-opening environment to explore the consequences of tough financial decisions.

This event was made possible thanks to the sponsorship of educational materials and supplies by the State Employees’ Credit Union Bridge to Career program, which also sponsored the event’s lunch.

Other community partners of the event include: The Christian Mission, Crosby Scholars Iredell County, Goodwill Industries of Northwest NC, Greater Statesville Chamber of Commerce, I-CARE, Inc., ICATS, Iredell-Statesville Schools, Piedmont HealthCare, Statesville Housing Authority, Stewart-Graham Realty, and TD&S Advisors.
