Please Note: Students may only apply to and participate in one (1) guaranteed admissions program, as each program has distinct eligibility criteria. Additionally, students should apply only to the university program for their intended transfer institution.
Career & College Promise (CCP) Dual-Enrollment program students are not eligible to apply for guaranteed admissions programs until they have graduated from high school and enrolled at Mitchell Community College as traditional students.
UNCW PathWays
UNCW’s PathWays program offers guaranteed admission for students transferring from a partner North Carolina Community College. Completing a transferable Associate’s degree ensures seamless access to UNCW, ensuring a smooth transition for your academic journey.
Planning to transfer to UNCW for the Summer or Fall 2026 semester? The priority deadline is March 1, 2026! The final deadline to apply to UNCW for Fall 2026 is June 1, 2026. To maximize opportunities, including financial aid, priority course registration, and secured housing, please apply by the deadline. Â
- Guaranteed admission as a transfer student and $80 application fee waiver
- $2,000 one-time scholarship for eligible students (only available for fall entry; students must apply by March 1 to be eligible)
- A UNCW transfer success coach to offer personalized support, guide you through the process and provide updates on deadlines, opportunities and more
- Access to campus visits, events and workshops to prepare for the transfer process and ensure a smooth transition
Students who are currently attending a partner community college and pursuing a transferable Associate’s degree are eligible to join PathWays. Transferable Associate’s degrees include:
- Associate in Arts (AA)
- Associate in Science (AS)
- Associate in Engineering (AE)
- Associate in Arts in Teacher Preparation (AATP)
- Associate in Science in Teacher Preparation (ASTP)
- Associate in Fine Arts (AFA)
Only students who are planning to apply as a transfer student are eligible for guaranteed admission. Dual-enrolled or early college students who plan to apply as first-year students are not eligible for PathWays. To learn more, please visit our Early College website.
How to Join PathWays
- Enroll by completing the PathWays form – available year-round. While there’s no deadline, joining in your first year at a partner community college ensures maximum benefits.
- Once enrolled in PathWays, you’ll receive access to updates from UNCW, your Transfer Success Coach, and the NEW PathWays Student Portal, your one-stop resource for planning an academic journey and staying on track for a successful transfer. Inside the portal, you’ll find planning tools, application guidance, and enrollment information.
