David Hodges is a performer on trumpet in the Charlotte-Metro and surrounding areas.  He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina (BM Music Ed), as well as Winthrop University (MM Trumpet Performance).  He has also completed additional trumpet studies with Judith Saxton (NC School of the Arts), and David Bilger (Philadelphia Orchestra).  As a performer, David has had a number of eclectic experiences:  The Fatback Band, in Columbia, SC, Carolina Gold Drum and Bugle Corps, Charlotte Civic Orchestra, Palmetto Concert Band, and Augusta Symphony.  David is currently a member of the Union Symphony Orchestra in Monroe, NC.  As an educator, he has spent two summers working at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Twin Lake, Michigan.  At Blue Lake he taught sectional classes and private lessons to students from around the world.  Before coming to Mitchell, David was on the music faculty of Limestone College in Gaffney, SC.  In addition to working as a brass educator and performer on trumpet, he is also the director of traditional music at Blair Road United Methodist Church in Charlotte, NC.
