Mitchell Community College celebrated 28 graduates of its 2025 Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) class during a formal ceremony held on June 5 on the Statesville Campus. The event recognized the dedication, discipline, and service of the newest generation of law enforcement professionals.
The ceremony began with greetings from David Bullins, Vice President for Continuing Education and Workforce Development, followed by an invocation from student Chandler Watts. Graduate Marco Tabora led the Pledge of Allegiance, and Mark Faulkenberry, BLET Coordinator, welcomed attendees.
Class spokesperson Nelson Cisneros delivered remarks on behalf of the graduating class, reflecting on their journey through the rigorous training program. The keynote address was delivered by Captain (Ret.) Alan Cranford, Law Enforcement Coordinator and Instructor, who shared insights from his experience in law enforcement.

The BLET program at Mitchell Community College prepares students to meet the certification standards set by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission and the North Carolina Sheriff’s Education and Training Standards Commission. Graduates are equipped with the foundational knowledge, skills, and ethical grounding to serve as entry-level law enforcement officers.
