When are Nurse Assistant classes available?
Day and evening classes are scheduled on a continual basis throughout each semester.

 

Where are these courses located?
In Statesville, classrooms and labs are located at the Goodwill Workforce Development Center and the Collier Enrichment Center. In Mooresville, classes and labs are on the Mooresville Campus.

How do I register for a Nurse Assistant I course?
Request a letter that provides registration details. To register, you must comply with immunization, medical and physical requirements and deadlines. Call Joyce Chambers at 704-878-4311 for detailed information about pre-registration requirements.

 

How much does the NA I class cost?
The total cost varies. The current registration fee of $224.25 + books includes insurance, a CPR card, a handbook and supplies. The required textbook is approximately $75 and includes a workbook.

The clinical facilities require that all students have a criminal background check through an approved vendor with a fee of $40. The background check is required prior to registration.

Facilities also require a negative drug screen several weeks prior to the clinical rotation. Typically the fee is $20-$40.

Students must produce proof of a completed immunization record along with a physical exam report from their physician within a specified time-frame.

Students are responsible for purchasing a uniform, shoes and a watch with a second hand for the clinical rotation.

 

Is there financial aid available for the class?
Depending on funding, a one-time scholarship is available to NA students. Call Beverly Rash at (704) 978-1366 for information.

 

Do you have to have a High School Diploma or GED?
For NA I, a high school diploma or GED is preferred but not required. For NA II, a high school diploma or GED is required. All students who have not met the minimum college English requirement must take the TABE reading test prior to registration, for more information please contact Catherine LeRoy at (704) 878-3232. Students who have completed a college-level English course must provide a copy of his/her transcript.

 

How can I get on the NC Nurse Aide Registry when I complete the class?
After successfully completing the NA I course, students may register with NACES to take the state exam. A fee of $101 is required by the state and must be paid via credit card at the time of registration. Students that pass the state exam will be listed on the NC Nurse Aide Registry within two weeks of the exam. Detailed instructions are provided to students on the last day of class.
