Mitchell Fine Arts Student and Instructor to participate in Southeastern Art Exhibition

Congratulations to Evan Franklin, a December 2023 graduate of Mitchell’s Associate in Fine Arts (A.F.A.) in Visual Arts program, and Paul Farmer, A.F.A. Visual Arts Instructor, who were selected among numerous applicants to display their artwork in “Emergence: A Survey of Southeastern Studio Programs.”

The exhibition, on display from January 20 – April 27, celebrates the role of teaching and mentoring in artistic development by highlighting works by faculty mentors and their students. Artwork will be displayed in pairs: one work from a faculty mentor and one work from their student. An exhibition reception will be held on March 23 at 3 p.m. Exhibiting their work alongside top university art programs in the Southeast, Farmer and Franklin are the only community college participants to be selected.

Held at the Bunzl Gallery at The Bascom: Center for the Arts (located at 323 Franklin Road Highlands, NC, 28741), the exhibition will display many art mediums. Representing Mitchell’s Fine Arts program, Farmer and Franklin’s exhibition piece will showcase video art, with work created by Evan during their time in ART-267 Videography II.
