Mitchell celebrates opening of North Iredell Center

Mitchell Community College celebrated the opening of the college’s North Iredell Center on Thursday, September 13, 2018. Officials from Iredell-Statesville Schools, North Iredell High School (NIHS), the Agriculture & Science Early College (ASEC) and representatives from local and state government were on hand to witness the ribbon cutting.

ASEC, Mitchell’s initial partnership with NIHS and third early college, opened to students in fall of 2017. Mitchell’s North Iredell Center, a new 4–classroom building, also located on the campus of NIHS, allows for expanded offerings and services, providing the College a footprint in the northern part of the county and allowing north Iredell residents greater ease of access to seated classes. General Mitchell students are able to take classes at this facility, which officially opened its doors in the Fall 2018 semester.

Currently, eleven courses being held at North Iredell Center in the Fall 2018 semester. “Our partnership with Iredell-Statesville Schools continues to provide opportunities for our students and for the citizens of Iredell County,” said Dr. Camille Reese, Vice President for Instruction at Mitchell. “We are excited for this expansion of services, and we look forward to continuing to grow options for students of all ages in the northern part of the county.”

Parking passes will be needed for Mitchell students taking classes at the ASEC, and students must meet eligibility requirements to attend classes where minors are present. Iredell-Statesville Schools will verify eligibility prior to the start of classes. To learn more about Mitchell courses offered at NIHS and to enroll, contact College Admissions at or (704) 978-5493.
