Important Commencement Reminders

  1. All graduates are expected to arrive for Commencement at 9 a.m. and line up in the Vocational Building. The Student Services staff will be present to assist with organizing the graduates before marching out.

  2. Graduates should arrive on campus dressed in your cap and gown. Leave all valuables at home or with your guests.

  3. Silence your cell phones and do not accept phone calls during the ceremony.

  4. Dress Code:

    a. You should avoid spiky heels – they will sink into the grass as you walk and could cause you to fall or twist an ankle.

    b. Bring your own bobby pins, to make sure your cap stays in place.

    c. If you received a medallion at Awards Day please wear it over your gown.

  5. Pictures : A professional photographer will be present to take your photograph. You will have a chance to purchase photos. Photo proofs will be emailed to your student email from the photography company.

  6. Mitchell Email: You will still be able to access your Mitchell email for a few months. Please monitor your Mitchell email account for any important information related to your degree completion and graduation photos.

  7. Diplomas: Diplomas will not be handed out at the graduation ceremony. Diplomas will be mailed in June. Please make sure your mailing address is up to date in our system. If you need to update your address, please email records@mitchellcc.edu from your student email account. If you are graduating at the end of Summer classes, your diploma will be mailed once you have finished.

  8. If you or a family member have accessibility needs for the graduation ceremony, please contact Marks Elder, melder@mitchellcc.edu, (704) 878-3364, or stop by the Accessibility Services Office in Eason Student Services Center. You must make arrangements for yourself or your family member in advance. An official accommodation letter will be emailed. This letter will need to be shown to security or a graduation official upon arrival.

  9. Overflow: The graduation ceremony will be broadcast simultaneously in Shearer Hall on a large screen. Shearer Hall will serve as overflow space, or for anyone who would like to sit inside.

  10. There is no limit on how many guests you can invite. However, seating on the Circle will be limited: We encourage your family members to arrive early. They can bring their own chairs and set them up in the grassy area behind the Circle if needed.
