Mitchell Community College is approved by the NC Real Estate Commission to offer pre-licensing, post-licensing, and continuing education courses in-person, live online (synchronous), blended (online and in person), and through a distance education format.  We also offer courses for Licensed Appraisers. 

Class Information

In-Person Format 
In-person classes are the traditional type of class and are held at a physical location in one of the campus buildings. Note class location (Mooresville or Statesville) and room number provided at time of registration. Class hours are firm and specific.

This is an intensive course to guide you through what you will need to know to pass your state licensure exam. Students should have strong reading comprehension, math problem solving skills, and are able to carve out class and study time within their schedule. This is an 85-hour course. Students must attend at least 80% of all class time and pass the final exam with an 80% to successfully complete this course.

You have your provisional license and now are within the 18-month window of completing your post-licensing course work. Post-licensing classes are broken into three courses for 30 hours each. Students must attend at least 90% of all class time (a total of 90 hours) and pass the final exam of each section with an 80% to successfully complete this course.  

301: Broker Relationships and Responsibilities (30 hours) 

302: Contracts & Closings (30 hours) 

303: NC Law, Rules, and Legal Concepts (30 hours) 

All real estate agents must complete 8 hours of continuing education each year to renew their license in June. 4 of these hours must be a state-sanctioned class (GenUp or BICAR) and the other 4 hours are an elective on a subject relevant to your learning needs.

This is a mandatory 4-hour course for all agents guided by state regulatory content.

Electives include a variety of topics and are each 4 CEUs. Choose topics that you find complement your current real estate needs or you want to learn more about!

2024-2025 7-Hour USPAP Update – Appraisers are required to take this course to keep their appraiser license active in the state. Registration is limited and will close when full or one week prior to course offering (whichever comes first). Students will be sent a link to order the 3 mandatory appraisal books per the Appraisal Foundation 2024-2025 updates. Individuals may order these at any time in print or .pdf but all three MUST be brought to class per state regulations in order to be admitted to the class.
