Cosmetology Graduate Becomes an Instructor at MCC

April Hodges-Kircher spends her days doing what she loves to do. As a graduate of Mitchell Community College’s cosmetology instructor training, she now practices as a hair designer and teaches others the trade.

"The feeling of teaching a student and seeing them succeed because of you is like no other feeling," says April.

April attributes her own success to the training she received at Mitchell. "Dale Bare, my instructor, always motivated me to do better. I strive to be more like her."

While at Mitchell, April held a 4.0 GPA and she is now continually adding to her list of accomplishments. In addition to receiving an exceptional score on the state board exam, April was featured in InStyle magazine, has been named Most Innovative Teacher Trainee, and has received certification as a Redken color specialist.

Her next move is returning to Mitchell to pursue a degree in business administration with the hopes of becoming either a cosmetology campus director or working for a color line as an educator.

"It's nice to enjoy your career this much," says April.
