Clubs and Organizations

Major Clubs

Art Club – emphasizes an awareness of the importance of fine arts to the students and community. (Advisor: Mark Flake)

Cosmetic Arts Society – Serves to unite in a common bond the students enrolled in cosmetology classes and provide a channel of information, activities and to promote development of leadership abilities through participation in educational, vocational, civic, recreational, and social activities. (Advisor: Corey Rhoney)

Criminal Justice Association – is an organization for students interested in the field of criminal justice. (Advisors: Lisa Cooper & Rick Eades, 704.978.3110)

Early Childhood Association – serves as a forum for student opinion dedicated to resolving and discussing early childhood issues. The club conducts service projects for the college and community in the field of early childhood. (Advisor: Dede Dunst)

Human Services Club – is an organization that promotes and encourages advancement in the human services field addressing mental health issues and community service issues. (Advisor: Sally Dellinger)

Phi Beta Lambda – is an award winning national organization for business students. They actively participate in state, regional and national competitions. (Advisors: Susan Stinson)

Phi Theta Kappa – is a National scholastic honors fraternity for community college students. Membership is based on excellent grades. (Advisors: Annette Moore, Matt Cashion, Gloria Rembert)

Projectile Society – (Advisor: Doug Knight)

Science Club – is open to all students interested in science. The club sponsors field trips, fundraising activities and speakers. (Advisors: Tia Johnson, Emily Goins, Deshaun Williams)

Student Nurse Association – is an organization for currently enrolled nursing students. The association promotes the professional standards of nursing and emphasizes the importance of involvement in professional organizations past graduation. (Advisor: Linda Wiersch & Anna Gordon)

Interest Clubs

Circle K – a college organization affiliated with the Statesville Kiwanis Club. Students assist with the Tar Heel Classic Horse Show and the Iredell County Fair. Membership dues for active participants are paid by the Kiwanis Club of Statesville. (Advisor: Gail Elmore)

Diverse Expressions – is an organization designed to enhance and encourage written and spoken artistic expressions. It is dedicated to reaching the community though spoken words, lyrics, short stories, poetry, etc in order to facilitate mental and spiritual growth as a means to help people make their dreams a reality. (Advisor: Bruce Johnson)

Ebony Kinship – is an organization dedicated to providing positive cultural and social activities. They sponsor numerous campus events and fundraising projects for community agencies. (Advisors: Carolyn Morrison, Carolyn Turner, Carolyn Gray, Sheila Cowan)

Fellowship of Brotherhood – promotes the positive qualities of life for males. (Advisor: Randall Willie)

International Club – promotes the feeling of international understanding and friendship within the college and general community. (Advisors: Yolanda Wilson & Brenda Sawyer)

Learning Transitions Club – an organization based on the needs of adult students who are confronting the challenges of change in their lives. (Advisor: Sandra Kaiser & Lorraine Watt)

Mavericks – an intramural club that includes a variety of athletic/non-athletic activities. It fosters friendship, teamwork, and school spirit amongst students, faculty and staff. (Advisor: Brian Long)

Mooresville Student Association – (Advisors: Wendy Tobin & Vernon Lawter)
