Medical Emergencies

CALL 9-1-1

Initiate Appropriate Action:

For Life-Threatening Emergencies - unconsciousness, difficulty breathing, choking, seizures, chest pain, serious bleeding, rape/assault, etc.

  1. GET HELP!
    • IF ALONE, run to the nearest telephone and dial 9-1-1
    • IF NOT ALONE, send someone to the nearest telephone and dial 9-1-1
    • If the nature of the emergency can be determined, report it
    • If possible, report if the person is conscious, breathing or bleeding.
  2. Render aid as appropriate.
  3. If possible, send someone to meet Emergency Personnel to direct them to the scene.

For General Medical Problems (Injuries/Illness) - Conditions with no threat to life or limb.

  1. Render aid as appropriate.
  2. Direct the person to the nearest First Aid Kit.
  3. Ask if they need assistance to home, hospital or doctor. Note: you should never transport a person to the hospital yourself, always call an ambulance.

  • Machine Shop—Common Wall
  • Cherry Street Center—Receptionist's Area
  • Continuing Education Center—Mail Room
  • Cosmetology Center—Supply Room
  • Mooresville Center—Faculty/Staff Lounge
  • South Statesville Skills—Reception Area, file cabinet drawer
  • Technology and Workforce Development—room 103
  • Drake St. Annex—On wall by bathrooms
  • Frasier House—Kitchen
  • Music Department (House)—Hallway to kitchen
  • Security Vehicle
  • Library—Staff Lounge area
  • Print Shop—under front counter

Bloodborne pathogen kits are located in the housekeeping closets in all buildings.
