Early Childhood

Thank you for your interest in the Associate in Applied Science Degree (A.A.S.) in Early Childhood or the School Age (A.A.S.) degree at Mitchell Community College.

The NAEYC accredited Early Childhood Program allows individuals to work with young children from infancy to middle childhood. Students can work in child care centers, family child care homes, church preschool programs, HeadStart, special education resource rooms, as teacher assistants in public schools, as nannies, with Prime Time afterschool care programs, and the Early Childhood degree can transfer to some 4yr. universities. The School Age A.A.S. degree does not transfer.

Students may enroll any semester (either Fall, Spring or Summer). Be sure to begin the admissions process by filling out an application at Mitchell Community College in the student services area.

After advising with your advisor, then register online. Please keep your checksheet and follow your program of study as you complete all classes.

Education courses are offered at either Mooresville or Statesville and rotate each semester between day, afternoon and evening sessions. Most of our classes meet once a week. The EDU classes are all web-enhanced, hybrid or an internet offering.
