Mitchell Community College, with campuses in Statesville and Mooresville, NC, is dedicated to meeting the post-secondary education and training needs of the citizens of Iredell County and surrounding areas. Located in the Piedmont of North Carolina in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Mitchell has deep roots in the communities it serves. The present day college evolved originally from a women's college founded in 1852, and many years later into a modern comprehensive community college.

The College provides an array of high quality programs at low cost in a historically rich environment. Mitchell is a student-centered institution where all persons are encouraged to develop their abilities in a community that respects diversity and is supportive of individual achievement. Concerned with the educational, social, civic, cultural, and economic development of the community, instructional programs are focused on meeting the educational and training needs of persons over eighteen years of age and on students between 16 and 18 with permission from their school principal or superintendent.
