Dr. Camille Reese has been named vice president for instruction at Mitchell Community College. In this role she will have primary responsibilities for academic programs, institutional effectiveness, institutional and program accreditation, and library services. In addition, she will serve as a member of the President’s Council and as the liaison to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). She replaces Dr. James T. “Tim” Brewer who was appointed president earlier this year.
Reese currently serves as Mitchell’s dean of nursing, health services and public service technologies. Prior to coming to Mitchell, she served as assistant professor/RN-BSN coordinator at Winston-Salem State University, associate director of nursing education at NW AHEC/Bowman Gray School of Medicine, and clinical instructor at Forsyth Technical Community College.
Professional accomplishments include being appointed director of the NC-NET Nursing Center for Excellence, a collaborative project for the North Carolina Community College System to develop a learning repository for nursing and allied health programs; being appointed director of the RIBN Initiative, a collaborative project between area community colleges and the NC Foundation for Nursing Excellence; authoring a 60-credit hour online continuing education program for the Nurse Educator Institute; and serving as site visit chair for the Nation League for Nursing accreditation committee.
She began her education at Forsyth Tech. Reese has a doctorate in educational leadership and a master of science in nursing from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro, and a bachelor of science in nursing from Winston-Salem State University. She received the Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) designation from the National League of Nursing.
Reese and her husband Alan have two children and live in Winston-Salem.
