Mitchell Honors Students Inducted into Nu Tau Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa

The Nu Tau Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa inducted 61 students in a ceremony held on April 20.

In order to qualify for membership in this honors society students must possess a 3.5 cumulative GPA and have completed 12 hours of college coursework. Phi Theta Kappa’s mission focuses on increasing scholarship, fellowship, service, and leadership among its members and other students of Mitchell Community College. The induction ceremony included an inspirational speech from last year’s All USA Academic Team winner, Sue Spath, who spoke on the importance of being involved with college activities.

Current officers, Corrine Ahuna and Brittany Cabrerra shared their recent experience at the International Convention in Nashville, TN, where they met members from all over the world and heard several bestselling authors deliver speeches on leadership. The program included “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” performed by past member, Blanche Schwarz and accompanied by Jane Pardue. The ceremony concluded with closing remarks by Mitchell's president, James T. Brewer.
