Webvoyage (Online Catalog) When searching for books, magazines, and audiovisual materials in
our library, WebVoyage (Online Catalog) indexes all materials within our
collection. It is accessible through the Internet. In addition to indicating
what our library owns, it also supplies you with information about each holding
including the location, call number, and status of each item. You may search
WebVoyage by author, title, subject, keyword, journal title, subject heading,
or call number.
To access WebVoyage, enter: www.mitchellcc.edu. Click on “Learning
Resource Center.” Click on “Online Card Catalog.” Click
on “local catalog.” In the “Find This:” box, enter
your search term(s). At the “Find Results in:” box, highlight
the type of search you want to perform (Keyword, Title, Author, etc.). Click “Search” to
begin your search.
Library of Congress Classification System
Our library uses the Library of Congress Classification System to
arrange materials in order by subject. Each item is assigned a classification
number that best indicates its subject matter. This arrangement uses letters
and numbers (ex. DK4442 .P58 1997) to create a call number, which tells you
exactly where a specific item can be found on the shelves in our library.
It provides a way of keeping all the items on the same subject in the same
area of the library.
