Planning Steps - Laying the Foundation for College Success

Apply for Admission

Fill out an application for admission. You can pick these up at Student Services (Main Bldg) or at the Mooresville Center. If you wish to apply online, visit www.cfnc.org and click the “Online Applications” tab, then click on “College Admissions” (Do not forget to mail the signature page that will appear at the end of the online application).  Or, print off an application and drop it off at Student Services.

Send us your transcripts from your high school or GED. Also, send us transcripts from any college work you have done so you can see if you have any transferable credits. Transcript request forms are available in student services or online.

Apply for Financial Aid

You may apply for Federal financial aid online at www.fasfa.ed.gov. If you have any questions about the FAFSA, scholarships, or funds that may be available for childcare assistance, please call MCC’s Financial Aid office at 704-978-5435.

Placement Testing

Make an appointment to take placement tests by calling 704-878-3200. The test is given at 9:00 a.m, 1:30 p.m, & 5:30 p.m. daily in Statesville (no 1:30 or 5:30 p.m. testing on Fridays) The placement test is also given by appointment at our Mooresville Center. To schedule a placement test in Mooresville call 704-978-5415.

Schedule your placement test early so you will have the best availability of testing sessions.  Also, if you test in advance of registration, you may be able to re-test if you need to in order to improve your scores.

Remember, the more you practice and study before the placement test the better your scores will be!

Practice materials can be found online, or you can pick up a brochure with these resources from a Counselor.

The MIND Center, located at the Huskins Library and at MCC’s Mooresville Center, has additional study materials available to assist you in preparing for the placement test.

Almost done! Proceed to step 3.
