Firefighter Basic Training
Firefighter I and II Certification Training
Mitchell Community College will offer two sessions of Basic Firefighter Training beginning in the Fall Semester of 2008. This program is designed to give the student the essential skills required for employment as an entry-level fire fighter. Upon successful completion of the 568 hour program the student will have attained the following certifications; Firefighter I and II, Driver Operator EVD, and Medical Responder.
Day Class will begin on August 18, 2008 at 8am. The day class will meet from 8am to 6pm Monday through Friday and occasionally on Saturday. The day class will take approximately 3 months to complete and will end December.
Night Class will begin on September 8, 2008 at 5:30pm. The night class will meet from 5:30pm to 10:30pm Monday through Thursday and most Saturdays. The night class will take approximately 6 months to complete and end around the April 2009.
Admission requirements for this program are:
· Students must be 18 years of age prior to the first day of class
· Students must have a high school diploma or GED
· Students must possess a valid drivers license.
Students must complete an admissions application a minimum of two weeks prior to the start of class. Class size is limited to the first twenty students for each class.

NFPA 1403 Classes
In an effort to consolidate offerings, Mitchell Community College will offfer NFPA 1403 Classes at the Statesville Workforce Development Campus on West Front Street. These classes will begin on August 11, 2008 at 6:30pm. Students may register and attend all classes or just the individual classes they need. Click the link below for a schedule of classes.
