Advising helps you be on the quickest path to graduation! If you are a student in an Associate in Fine Arts, Associate in Engineering, applied science, diploma, or certificate program, you are assigned to a faculty advisor in your program of study after you have your first advising session in Student Services. You will be assigned a faculty member who will be your advisor until you graduate or change your program of study.

If you are in an Associate in Arts or Associate in Science transfer degree program, you are assiged to a First-Year Advisor in Student Services. After your first year, you will transition to a faculty advisor who will advise you through graduation.

You will see your faculty advisor every semester to assess your needs and complete an educational plan for your upcoming semester.  You need an educational plan created for each semester for which you want to register.

Advising Seasons are October through January and then March through May. October is the ideal time to talk with your faculty advisor about the upcoming spring semester. March is the best time to talk with your advisor about summer classes and the upcoming fall semester.

In addition to helping you with scheduling, your faculty advisor will assist you with course selection and determining your appropriate course load. Your faculty advisor will encourage you to become self-reliant and to make informed decisions. This includes setting realistic goals and developing thinking, learning and life management skills.
