Thad Sparkman, the ONC-HIT program liaison from Catawba Valley Community College, will hold an information session about a new non-degree Health Information Training (HIT) program. This federally sponsored Electronic Health Record Specialist Training, available to Iredell County residents, will prepare individuals with knowledge, skills, and aptitudes needed to use, install, and maintain electronic health records. The six-month online program fills a previously unmet skills gap: those who are experienced Internet Technology (IT) professionals with little medical knowledge, and those who are competent medical personnel with little IT background. Delivered online, the program can be completed in six months and is available to a 37-county area in Western and Northwestern North Carolina. The session is open to anyone with an IT or healthcare background who might meet the criteria. For more information, visit www.cvcc.edu/HITWD/ or contact Donna Gilbert at dgilbert@cvcc.edu. |
