Income Allocations
Since its inception, through October 2002, the Board of Directors of the
Endowment and the Board of Trustees of the College have allocated income
of $131,000
to the following programs:
Book Fund for the Huskins Library—$19,000
The MCCEE allocation allows the Library to purchase additional books and
periodicals to help meet accreditation standards and serve the growing needs
of students and faculty.
Faculty-Staff Educational Enhancement Development Fund ("Tier A")—$18,000
The N. C. General Assembly provides limited funding for professional development
for 54 full-time employees to cover the cost of training and travel to professional
meetings. MCCEE funds are used to supplement these very limited funds for
this important effort to keep faculty and staff current with the development
of new information about their academic field or area of work.
Mooresville Expansion Project Equipment and Furnishings—$13,000
Phase 2 of the Mooresville Expansion Project is to be completed in March
2003. While State Bond funds and County Funds have been allocated for the
construction of the building, no funds have been allocated for the equipping
and furnishing of the new wing. MCCEE funds are being used to help meet
this critical need.
Music Programs—$11,000
Allocations from the MCCEE partially underwrite the costs of the MCC Band,
MCC Chorus, MCC Inspirational Choir and special productions which involve
well over 200 persons in various performances for audiences which will
total well over 2,500 persons. These organizations at Mitchell enrich the
cultural life of the College and the larger community significantly.
History Project —$10,000
As Mitchell celebrates its Sesquicentennial during 2002-2003, a history from
the founding of the College in 1852 through 2000 will be published. Mr.
Bill Moose, MCC History Instructor, is writing the history. MCCEE funds
will be used to assist with pre-publication expenses as well as the printing
of the manuscript.
Human Resources Development Program—$10,000
This state-funded program assists individuals in developing employment skills.
MCCEE funds are used to maintain this much-needed program for Iredell County
citizens and their potential employers during this period of increasing
unemployment.
Community Service Programs—$8,000
MCC offers special-interest classes which earn no tuition and for which there
are no fees charged. Classes, including those for senior citizens, are
offered at various sites in Iredell County. MCCEE funds are used to make
up for this reductions in state funding.
South Statesville Skills Center—$5,000
In partnership with the Statesville Housing Authority, Mitchell operates
the South Statesville Skills Center, which provides an outreach program
to one of the areas with greatest needs in Iredell County. Located on Highway
21 South, this facility provides Job Readiness Skills classes, GED High
School Diploma classes, Adult Basic Education classes, Basic Literacy classes,
Introductory Computer classes, Small Business Center services, and other
classes needed by the South Statesville community.
GED (High School Equivalency) Scholarships—$5,000
The GED Scholarships provide the opportunity for all GED graduates to take
one curriculum course free of charge.
Distance Learning Faculty Development Fund—$4,000
This program assists MCC faculty who are developing courses to be offered
on-line by Internet access. Faculty develop these courses while carrying
out their regular classroom duties even though these courses often require
many hours to develop.
Arts/Lecture Series—$4,000
The MCC Arts Series offers a variety of cultural programs in Shearer Hall,
on the Circle and at the Mooresville Center throughout the year for the
campus and community at large.
Mooresville Center Development Program—$4,000
These funds support the additional students and programs at the expanded
Mooresville Center. Student enrollment increased more than 45 percent in
Mooresville.
Certified Nursing Assistant Program Scholarship—$3,000
The Continuing Education Division offers a non-credit program to train nursing
assistants. The tuition and supplies for this program average $150 per
student. Because it is a non-curriculum program, federal and state financial
aid programs are not available for the students.
MIND Center—$3,000
The MCC MIND (Mitchell Instructional and Developmental) Center provides free
tutoring and other support services for all college curriculum students.
Technology Equipment for Mooresville Center Expansion—$2,000
Additional technical equipment is needed for the addition to the Mooresville
Center.
Art Program and Gallery—$2,000
Mitchell continues to have an outstanding art program which hosts monthly
exhibits in the Louise Gilbert Memorial Gallery. MCCEE funds are used to
support the art program and the operation of the Gallery.
Shearer Hall Organ Repair—$2,000
The Shearer Hall organ, which was first installed in 1915, required repair
and restoration. These funds began the lengthy restoration process.
Library Automation Equipment—$1,000
Library automation has helped the Learning Resources Center provide immediate
access for students, staff, and faculty to both the library collection
and the Internet.
Employee Wellness Program—$1,000
The College supports wellness for all employees through a year-long program
of exercise and information.
Mooresville Center Science Lab—$1,000
College-Transfer classes are being offered at the Mooresville Center. The
science laboratory needs updated equipment and supplies to support college
biology and other science and allied health programs.

A Symposium on Transportation and Technology was held at the Mooresville
Citizens Center to explore the business opportunities emerging in southern
Iredell County done to the Interstate highway system and the availability
of communications technology.

delivery such as telecourse, mixed-hybrid courses, and the technical equipment
and support systems required for this new program offered by the College.

This program addresses post-employment education and training needs of persons
already employed in the computer industry as well as providing education
and training for persons who will be seeking employment.

MCC in developing an orientation program for new faculty and staff
