Current Students

Welcome to Mitchell Community College and the opportunity to be a part of an exciting learning community. Our faculty and staff will do all that we can to ensure that you are successful here, but I do want to encourage you to take an active part in your education.

Please know our desire is not only to help you gain the skills to successfully seek employment but also to help you develop as an individual. Here are six helpful tips for you gleaned from my years of experience as a college educator and administrator:

  • GO TO CLASS. Your success rate will increase the more you are in class.
  • USE THE RESOURCES OF THE COLLEGE. Go to the MIND Center if you need help. Study at the library. Talk to your faculty advisor. Join a study group.
  • TAKE CARE OF YOUR BODY. Get enough rest. Exercise as you can, and eat a healthy diet. All of these will benefit you both now and in the years to come.
  • MEET PEOPLE. You have an incredible opportunity to meet some remarkable classmates. Take the chance to introduce yourself and strike up a conversation. You will be surprised at how much richer your college experience will be as you expand your circle of acquaintances.
  • DO NOT PROCRASTINATE. The increased pressure generated by procrastination leads to errors and will cause you not to submit your best work.
  • GET INVOLVED. Join a club or the SGA. Go to activities on campus. Join in leadership opportunities. Whether you are transferring to another college or looking for a job after your time at Mitchell, campus involvement gives you opportunities to develop skills beyond what you can get in a classroom.

Sincerely yours,
Douglas O. Eason, Ph.D.
