Programs

  • Allied Health - These courses relate to the medical and nursing field and lead to state certification. Courses for initial certification, recertification and job upgrade are available.
  • Back-to-Work Program - This job training program is for individuals who have received unemployment benefits for 26 weeks or more or who have exhausted their benefits. It includes employability skills, advising, one-on-one counseling, and career coaching. The program covers tuition/registration fees, books and certification costs.
  • Business & Industry Services - This program provides for the training needs of industries new to Iredell County and also for existing companies that are undergoing a major expansion, which results in the addition of twelve or more new production jobs.
  • Community Service - Community Service Programs are designed to appeal to the avocational and special interests of adults in our community. Classes in cake decorating, painting, photography, pottery, sewing, stained glass, and other topics are sponsored through this program.
  • GED & Basic Skills - The Basic Skills division of Continuing Education encompasses the following programs: Adult Basic Education (ABE), General Educational Development (GED), English as a Second Language (ESL), Compensatory Education (CED), Basic Skills in the Workplace
  • Math and More for the College Bound - a FREE 8 week course designed to create successful college students. Our primary goal is to prepare students for the college placement test in math, reading and writing in order to avoid unnecessary (non-credit) developmental classes. If you are a GED or high school graduate who could use some brushing up in these areas, this class is for you. If you have already taken the college placement test and tested into one or more developmental courses, this class is for you. Remember, the class is free!   • Motorcycle Safety - Teaches students the proper techniques needed to ride a motorcycle safely. Classes are available for both beginning and experienced riders.
  • Occupation Courses - These programs contribute to the economic development of the region. Classes are offered which upgrade the skills of those currently employed and prepare other individuals to enter the work force.
  • Online Education - These classes are the ultimate in convenience! More than 100 courses are offered monthly via the Internet. Lessons are accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Offerings include: GED Online, License Renewal, Computer Classes, Spanish for the Workplace and many more!
  • Public Safety - The Public Safety program provides certificates in fire science, basic law enforcement, and emergency medical services. Training includes a combination of classroom and "hands-on" study to ensure students are well-prepared to enter these fields.
  • Truck Driver Training - Training programs are provided by Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute Hudson, NC and hosted at Mitchell Community College. Day classes require 8.5 weeks to complete, evening classes 15 weeks and weekend classes take 17 weekends.
