Creative Thinking Series
Reapplication is a fourth method
to achieve creativity. This is a process of looking at something old with
new eyes and asking how it can otherwise be used. For example, an old car
tire might be used as a swing, a flower planter, or as a boat-guard attached
to a pier. A fifth process involves a complete change of direction.
Sometimes known as creative insight, it occurs when attention is shifted
from one angle of a problem to another. Here we must focus on the goal which
is to solve an identified problem, not to implement a particular solution.
When one solution is not working, move to another. There should be no
commitment to a particular path, only to a particular goal.

Phi Theta Kappa Induction
Ceremony
Thursday, April 23, 2009 |
|
On Thursday, April 23, Phi Theta
Kappa inducted a record number of 110 new members. The ceremony, which was
held in Shearer Hall, was well attended by family, friends, students, and
faculty. Our very own Rita Taggert, Coordinator of Communication and
Humanities, was guest speaker. Ms. Taggert inspired the inductees and the
audience with her words of wisdom as she charged the Phi Theta Kappa members
with "a commitment to serve, a commitment to love, and a commitment to
lead." Dr. Eason presented certificates honoring Phi Theta Kappa members
Janice Jarvis Estes and Katrina Jones for their having been selected for the
All-USA Academic Team. Music was provided by Michael Brooks along with a
song selection by PTK member Abigail Stone. This wonderful event ended with
closing remarks by Dr. Eason followed by an enjoyable reception.
