About The GED Test
GED Test Instructions
The High School Equivalency Program is designed to test a person's knowledge
in five areas: English, math, reading, natural science and social studies.
Upon satisfactory completion of tests, the equivalency diploma is issued by
the North Carolina Community College System. The GED is recognized as the equivalent
of a high school diploma. To qualify for this program, you must:

Are at least eighteen years of age. 16/17 years old with special needs.

Make application for testing through their instructor. Pay the test fee
of $7.50 at the time of the test. Have a current picture id and social
security card.

Must score 2250 total points with no single test score below 410 to receive
a High School Diploma Equivalency

GED Testing Program
The GED testing program is:

Designed for adults who did not complete a high school education.

Recognized by employers, colleges, military and other organizations as
equivalent to a high school education.

Offered each semester at MCC: Summer, Fall, and Spring semesters.
To take the GED test, you will need to:

Contact the local Basic Skills Program office to schedule intake and placement
testing. To enroll call 878.3232, ext. 3232 or 878.3349, ext. 3349

Take GED Prep classes that are offered on campus and are also available
through Internet access.

Take the Basic Skills Placement Test at MCC and pass the official GED practice
test.

About The GED Test
The Total Passing Score must be 2250 and no Minimum Score on any test
part can be less than 410.
The GED test is divided into five sections, which measure skill and knowledge
in academic areas. The test is given over a three-day period.

GED Test InstructionsThe GED is a high security test and we must follow all rules and regulations
set by the GED Testing Service. The following is a summary of these rules:

You are required to provide proof of ID:
(a) a. Current government issued ID, Driver’s License, Passport,
or DMV Photo ID
(b) Social Security card or Pay stub with name and SSN

The cost of testing is $7.50.
-
No bags, pocketbooks, notebooks, nor books of any kind are allowed in
the GED testing room. No cell phones or other electronic devices are allowed
in the GED testing room. All coats, hats, hooded jackets, and gloves must
be removed and placed in the front of the room.

No food, drinks, or chewing gum is allowed in the testing room.

Only those items provided by the GED examiner are allowed on your desk.

The GED test is a timed test. You should answer every question, as only
the correct answers are scored.

The GED test is a series of 5 tests which are administered over a 3 day
period.

Testing begins promptly at 10:00am and 5:00pm on testing dates. You should
arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start time. Students who arrive
after the start time will not be permitted to take that test.

If you arrive late for testing, go to your GED office and rescheduled
for the next available test date.

Raise your hand when you finish your test. The examiner will come to
you to sign you out.
