Inclement Weather Policy
In the event of adverse weather, Mitchell Community College will announce
delays, cancellation of classes or the closing of the college in the following
media:
Radio:
WSIC (AM 1400) Statesville
WFMX (FM 105.7) Statesville
WHIP (AM 1350) Statesville
WAME (AM 550) Statesville
Television:
WSOC (Channel 9) Charlotte
WBTV (Channel 3) Charlotte
WCNC (Channel 6) Charlotte
WXII (Channel 12) Winston-Salem
As adults, all MCC students must assume responsibility for deciding if road
conditions are too hazardous to permit safe driving on public roads. Safety
and good judgment are required in each individual case.
When a decision is made to cancel day classes, media announcements will be
made by 6 a.m. if possible. A decision to cancel evening classes will be made
by 3 p.m. and announced as soon as possible. Announcements are made on the
television, radio, and Mitchell Community College web site.
The statement “classes cancelled” indicates that MCC employees
are expected to report to work or take annual leave. “College closed” means
that neither students nor MCC employees need to report to work.
If classes are delayed, classes will resume at the start of an instructional
block. Cancelled classes will make up the work according to individual faculty
plans. |
